By her own admission, Alfa, your poet anonymous, is a word thief. People’s conversations on buses, trains, planes, wherever, are not safe from her. She may steal whole sentences, or just one precious word in either English, or German. Then she will take them home with her, and add them to her collection. There, they breed and finally hatch, all different - happy, sad, nasty, thoughtful, confused, loving, hateful, laughing, crying, all with connections of their own. ‘Mind you,’ she says, ‘I always give them back, in a new dress, suit, or stark naked, because I am an honest thief. Hoarding them is not healthy. They need to breath and circulate, testing their reaction on others.  However, once they have left home, they have to fight their own battles.’ The three books shown here are all now published by Scriptora Publishing, and are available direct from the author via her website.  Chaos features short stories and poems in English and German, Word Watching offers poems in English, while Spiegelsplitter offers poems in German.  In addition to writing poetry, Alfa is a published translator. She divides her time between her hometown of Soest in Germany, and her ‘second home’, Liverpool in the UK.
