After years of teaching
bellydancing and getting laughs
from her class, Kerrie decided
to write down some of her
experiences in her first novel,
Nefertiti’s Prodigy. Since then
she has tried her hand at stand
up and continues to write.
Kerrie came from Australia on a
working holiday years ago and
ending up staying. Now at the
age of 50 with her family grown
up, she has decided to behave
as badly as possible (legally of
course). She has worked in
gardens, on farms, and as a
carer. She now sits behind a
desk in Social Work in despair - ‘We hand out forms for the desperate’
and ‘keep waiting lists for the needy’ she says.
In her spare time she likes to paint pictures of round women, and
dance under the influence of a glass of bubble.
‘I want to create characters that are larger than life, and create writing
that makes people laugh out loud. My plots are a little way out and
farcical.
Kerrie lives in a small town on the west coast Scotland and finds the
local folk more than inspiring for the stories she is working on at the
moment.
